about

This song is probably one of the more sadder songs we have ever done. It's about an accident my wife's father was involved in that nearly killed him. The beginning starts out by describing the moment we got "the phone call" early in the morning from the cops, stating that he had been involved in a really bad accident. I remember turning on the TV shortly after and the local new channel had been showing scenes from the accident on the freeway. There was glass all over the freeway. The car was flipped over on it's side. All of his belongings were spread all over the freeway. I remember watching my wife face as her heart just shattered in disbelief. It was most overwhelming depression cause we had not idea if he would ever come home ever again. He was hospitalized for close to 9 months. At one point he had to be resuscitated back to life. While he was in the hospital I kept telling her that we were gonna get out on the other side of all of this and hes gonna walk out of there. It was one of the only things that kept us going, actually. 9 months later he walked out and went home! The big chorus at the end contains all the things we kept saying to each other to keep us going. This song is funny to me because it took shape in the studio. I had written a bunch of parts and we kind of all got into the studio and just recorded it before actually trying to rehearse it. We just barely learned how to actually play it in a live setting! On the end of the song we used a device called an Ebow to create the sound of what we thought was the intensive care unit at the hospital he had been staying at. It's a sad but sort of hopeful song. It's about trying to focus on the end goal, rather than the current state of trauma you're experiencing.

lyrics

Say What You Will
Take What You Want
I've Lost The Thrill
And There's No Response

When The World Is Knocking Down My Door
I'm In A State Of Disarray
Let's Put It Off For Another Day

And I Awoke As Your Heart Hit The Floor
I Saw The Stillness Start To Sway
It Buckled Underneath The Weight
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We're Gonna Get Out On The Other Side Of This

We're Gonna Grab A Drink And Try And Reminisce

We're Gonna Find Our Way Our Way Out Of This Darkness

We're Gonna Call Our Friends And Apologize For This

We're Gonna Let Go OF All Our Bitterness

He's Gonna get Well And Express His Thankfulness

I've Gotten Used To Feeling All Of This Numbness

It's Hard To Be Hopeful When The Pain Is Bottomless

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And We're Gonna Get Out On The Other Side Of This

And We're Gonna Call Our Friends And Apologize For This

And I've Gotten Used To Feeling All Of This Numbness

It's Hard To Be Hopeful When The Pain Is Bottomless
