This song is one of the first songs we wrote for this record. It is such a good opener! The song can be interpreted a few different ways. I purposely wrote it so that people could take different things away from it when they listen to it. It has its roots deep within the soil of being a dude in a band, playing to people you don't know, and attempting to win them over. I also wrote it about my questioning of the existence of god. Because I had experienced so much loss at this point, I felt it was appropriate to ask the question "Is there anyone out there?" I think it's an amazing song cause it seems to catch people off guard when they hear it. I like to watch people in the back of the room turn their head around and look at us as if we're talking to them when I yell the line in the song "does anybody even fuckin' care?"
